Adoption Process

Wouldn't this one pull at your heartstrings?

Did one of our adoptable animals catch your eye? Maybe pulled a little at your heartstrings? Even caused you to say “That’s the one!” Then you want to know how to go about adopting.

BuckHawk Center has a simple process.

  • First, tell us which animal you are interested in. None of our animals have numbers, so call them by name. A quick email works well for this. A longer email with information about you and your experience with pets works better.
  • Second, we will ask to have a phone conversation with you. We’ll be discussing your situation and lifestyle, the needs, personality and temperament of this pet and answer any questions you have.
  • Third, when you do decide to adopt, we have a short contract that we ask you to sign. It states several very important aspects:  ->You agree to care for this animal to the best of your ability including all necessary medical care, ->You agree never to chain or tether a dog in any way, ->and, if for any reason you can no longer keep the animal, you return him/her to us.
  • Lastly, we ask a donation to BuckHawk Center. We suggest $100.

You are welcome to visit your selected pet to help you make the decision. We’ll discuss that option for you when we talk.

Please note: By the time we have concluded the phone conversation, we are assured that you will make a great home for this pet. So we will make the adoption complete when you visit, if you like.

Another note: If you live a distance away, we can arrange transportation for your chosen pet. You will pay for it, though. And we can meet you part way, if that helps.

Finished With the Notes: Except to say Thank you!
