Celebrations for You and Your Pet

Here is a list of holidays for you and your pet to celebrate.

  • January 14 – Dress Up Your Pet Day. I think that speaks for itself.
  • February 20 – Love Your Pet Day. As if you don’t do this every day, but show them some extra attention here.
  • February 22 – Walking the Dog Day. Skip yo-yos and take your dog for an extra walk.
  • February 23 – International Dog Bisquit Appreciation Day. Give your dog special flavored bisquits.
  • March 3 – If Pets Had Thumbs Day. Pick something your pet would do if he or she had a thumb and do it for her or him.
  • March 22 – National Goof Off Day. Make sure to play with your pet for the whole day.
  • March 30 – Take a Walk in the Park Day. Take your dog along, of course.
  • April 1 – Walk to Work Day. As long as you are going to walk, take the dog, too.
  • April 13 – Blame Someone Else Day. But not the pets. They have to take the blame the rest of the year.
  • April 17 – Pet Owner’s Independence Day. Declare your independence by throwing a party for your pet.
  • April 19 – Look Alike Day. Try looking like your pet.
  • May – Nothing appropriate in this month, so enjoy your pet instead.
  • June – National Adopt a Cat Month. Time to think about adding a new furry friend to your family.
  • June 4 – Hug Your Cat Day. Don’t we all want some extra hugs?
  • June 23 – Take Your Dog to Work Day. Make sure your Rottweiler knows the boss is the enemy.
  • June 29 – Camera Day. Of course, you have to take pictures of your pets.
  • July – National Hot Dog Month. Celebrate by adopting a Dachsund.
  • July 31 – Mutt’s Day. Enough said.
  • August – Admit You’re Happy Month. Tell the pets.
  • August 5 – Work Like a Dog Day. Play fetch, eat, nap and beg for treats.
  • August 10 – Lazy Day. Snooze on the couch with your pet.
  • September 5 – Be Late for Something Day. You can blame the dog for this one. He or she will still love you.
  • September 23 – Dogs in Politics Day. Nominate your dog for president.
  • September 28 – Ask a Stupid Question Day. If you ask the dog, you won’t sound so stupid.
  • October – Adopt a Shelter Dog Month. At BuckHawk Center, we really celebrate this month.
  • October 12 – Moment of Frustration Day. Hug you pet and all will seem better.
  • November 5 – Book Lovers Day. Read to you pet.
  • November 17 – Take a Hike Day. With your dog, of course.
  • November 30 – Stay At Home Because You Are Well Day. Spend the day playing with your pets.
  • December 16 – National Chocolate Covered Anything Day. While you eat chocolate, give your dog his or her own treat. But no chocolate, of course.
  • December 18 – Bake Cookies Day. Try out a new dog bisquit recipe.
